Selling into the United Arab Emirates

Turkish furniture exports to the UAE were $61m in 2025 on the Ministry of Trade’s figures, down 24% from $81m in 2024 and from $101m in 2022. Over the same year Türkiye’s total exports to the UAE rose 11.9% to $9.28bn.

The trade agreement is new. The Türkiye–UAE economic partnership agreement (CEPA) was signed on 3 March 2023 and entered into force on 1 September 2023. In the UAE’s tariff schedule, Annex 2-1B, every furniture line carries a 5% base rate, and almost all go to zero from entry into force: 23 of the 24 seating lines under 9401 and 27 of the 31 lines under 9403. The exceptions fall to zero in equal steps over three or five years, and so do three mattress lines under 9404.21 and 9404.29. Without the agreement, the GCC common tariff of 5% on the CIF value applies; VAT is 5%.

The preference is claimed with a TR-UAE Proof of Origin, issued by the competent authorities, completed in English and valid for one year, or with an origin declaration made out by an approved exporter. Goods routed through a free zone keep their status only if they are not substituted or handled beyond normal operations there. Standards and the ECAS conformity scheme sit with the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, which absorbed ESMA; Abu Dhabi’s QCC and Dubai Municipality apply them locally.

The route changed in 2026. The ministry’s May 2026 logistics report, written during the disruption around the Strait of Hormuz, names Fujairah as the alternative gate into the UAE in place of Dubai and Jebel Ali, and the Omani ports of Sohar, Duqm and Salalah as a second option, each with its own onward road leg to plan.
