What is actually made here

İnegöl is a furniture district rather than a district that happens to contain furniture firms, and its own chamber of commerce publishes the split. In 2023 the district exported $1.48bn across 1,448 firms. Furniture was $823m of it — 56% of everything İnegöl sent abroad — carried by 1,256 firms. The next three sectors together came to 35%.

Türkiye’s Ministry of Trade lists the country’s furniture production centres as İstanbul, Ankara, Bursa’s İnegöl district, Kayseri, İzmir and Adana. İnegöl is the only district named inside a province on that list, and the ministry singles it out again a sentence later: the Bursa–İnegöl basin holds a strategic position particularly for export potential.

There are two industrial estates here and they are not the same thing. İnegöl Organize Sanayi Bölgesi was set up by a Cabinet decision of 24 December 1973 and describes itself as the first organised industrial zone in Türkiye established at district rather than provincial level. It covers 300 hectares, holds 83 firms across 112 parcels, employs around 15,000 people and exports about $650m a year. The second is specialised: İMOSAB, the İnegöl Furniture and Woodworking Specialised Organised Industrial Zone, had its founding protocol approved on 11 May 2006 under Organised Industrial Zones Law No. 4562 and covers 6,750 dönüm between the rural neighbourhoods of Hamzabey-Tokuş, Boğazköy-Çayırlı and Akçapınar.

Set two of the numbers against each other and the shape of the district appears. The chamber counts 1,256 İnegöl firms exporting furniture in 2023, up from 997 in 2022. The Ministry of Trade counts 56 large-scale furniture factories in the whole country. İnegöl is a deep pool of small and medium producers in one place, not a row of large plants — which is a strength for sourcing several items at once and a thing to plan around when one specification has to be delivered on one schedule.

It is also worth knowing what İnegöl is not. Furniture was 56% of the district’s exports in 2023; the next named sector, automotive supply, was 4%. The two addresses a buyer is normally given here — İnegöl OSB and İMOSAB — are industrial zones, not retail sites.

The firms below are İnegöl’s exporters, each with the markets it sells into — the district’s export map, firm by firm.
