MODEF 2026: the İnegöl furniture fair
MODEF Expo is the furniture fair of İnegöl, the district the Ministry of Trade names among Türkiye’s furniture production regions and the only district it names inside a province. The 55th edition runs 13–17 October 2026 at the İnegöl fairground, across 28,000 m², and the organiser lists 149 exhibiting firms. It is worth a trip if you buy bedroom, dining and seating ranges in volume. It is the wrong week to look for a contract FF&E partner, and the reason is in what the stands hold.
What is actually on the stands
The organiser’s own participant profile is the clearest statement of what the fair is: bedroom ranges — modern, classic and avant-garde — dining rooms, seating groups, baby, children’s and youth rooms, wall and TV units, tables and chairs, and office furniture. That is a retail and wholesale catalogue, shown as finished ranges a buyer can order by the container.
A hotel FF&E package is not that. It is drawings, a specification, a finish schedule and a sample approved before production, and no factory shows it on a stand. What a fair week does give a contract buyer is the thing a spec cannot be judged without: who has the presses, the spray lines, the upholstery benches and the people, all inside one district and inside three days. Treat the stands as an index of capacity, and the meetings as the point.
Why İnegöl, and not Istanbul
İnegöl is a district of Bursa province and a furniture district rather than a place that happens to contain furniture firms. Its chamber of commerce puts 2023 exports at $1.48bn across 1,448 firms, of which furniture was $823m carried by 1,256 firms — 56% of everything the district sent abroad. The ministry’s own list of furniture production regions, ordered by share of total production, reads “İstanbul, Ankara, Bursa (İnegöl), Kayseri, İzmir ve Adana” — İstanbul carries the larger share, and İnegöl is the only district named inside a province.
This index holds 1,501 exporting firms in İnegöl and 1,941 across Bursa province. İstanbul’s share sits in a different kind of place: its best-known furniture centres describe themselves as shopping centres, which is set out with their own words on the İstanbul page. A week spent walking those is a week spent buying from shops.
Which exhibitors already have an export record here
Of the 149 firms on the organiser’s participant list, 42 match a firm in this index in İnegöl, and 5 of those have a company page with their export markets on it. The list below is the overlap, not the fair’s own list, and the export markets come from the index rather than from the fair.

What to do with the week
- Book the factory visits, not the stands. The stand is 20 m² of finished ranges; the plant is twenty minutes away and answers the questions that decide an order.
- Ask what else the line runs. A firm showing bedroom ranges in October may have contract capacity in February, and the only way to know is to ask what the same line has run.
- Bring the specification. A drawing and a finish schedule turn a stand conversation into a quotation; a catalogue photograph does not.
- Know which firms make your product. The index lists exporters by what their own site says they make — beds and bedroom sets, sofas, case goods, chairs — and İnegöl holds the largest group on most of those lists.
- Check the market fit before the meeting. A firm already exporting to your market has met its paperwork once, which is worth more than a cheaper quotation from a firm that has not.
Before you buy from the fair
Two things decide whether an order placed in October ships cleanly. The first is the destination market’s paperwork: EU buyers carry the deforestation regulation and GPSR, and both bind the importer, not the factory. The second is that the widest-exporting firm at a fair is rarely the specialist you want — breadth on an export record tracks corporate scope, not capability.
